Flower Committee

The Flower Committee is made up of at least six members, with two elected each year to serve three year terms. An individual may serve no more than six consecutive years.


Responsibilities:

1. Committee elects Chair annually.

2. Each member is assigned two months per year to be responsible for securing altar flowers for each Sunday. This may be done by a) contacting those who gave flowers in the previous year to ask if they would like to donate again or; b) recruiting new individuals to donate. When no one has donated flowers, committee member should place one of the artificial bouquets on the altar.

3. Committee member should ascertain if donor wishes to take the flowers or to have them distributed to the hospital, nursing homes, or shut-in following the Sunday service. The Pastoral Visitor should be notified about what is to be done with the flowers.

4. Decorate sanctuary for Christmas, and remove decorations after Epiphany.

5. Arrange purchase of Easter lilies and Christmas poinsettias. Advertisements for these should be coordinated with the church office so information is distributed through newsletter and Sunday bulletins.
