The Caring Ministry Board shall consist of not less that seven (7) members, six (6) elected by the Church at the Annual Meeting for staggered three (3) year terms and the seventh a member representing the Board of Deacons. Members may not serve on this Board for more than six (6) years. At least three of the Board members should be present or former caring volunteers.
Responsibilities:
1. It shall assist the Pastors and Board of Deacons in pastoral care.
2. It shall recruit and train Caring Volunteers to do visitation and other caring tasks.
3. It shall provide information to the Caring Volunteers and the Congregation at large on spiritual growth and community resources.
4. It shall present a detailed report for the year to the Church at each Annual Meeting.
Each month a committee member takes on the role of caring coordinator. This job is rotated on a monthly basis. The coordinator learns the needs of our church members from the Pastor, Church Secretary, or other church members and will respond utilizing the help of our volunteers to meet the needs whenever possible.
Services provided include:
• Checking in with our members on the Caring List
• Arranging for transportation
• Providing meals
• Distributing prayer shawls
• Sending out cards
• Provide respite care
• Being part of the prayer circle
• House sitting during funerals/memorial services
• Assisting with Blair Manor Services
Other tasks performed by the committee include:
• Maintaining an up to date caring list, which include new concerns that occur during the month
• Planning parties or visitations for those on the caring list on a quarterly basis
• Being part of the prayer circle communication which comes out each week and praying for those needing our prayers
• Recruiting new volunteers and keeping volunteer agreement forms updated including insurance and driver license information
• Submitting budget requests to the Board of Finance each year
• Providing Board of Deacons/Flower Committee with a list of names for Easter Lilies and Christmas Poinsettia deliveries
• Education/spiritual enrichment programs for volunteers and other church members
• Submitting a Caring Annual Report
